Actors

The opening two minutes of our film requires us to use a variety of actors. The actors below are listed as our main actors as they agreed to help us and were the age group we were looking for for our group.

This will be the person playing Rosalyn. Because our main character is a young women, we wanted to portray her as being feminine – so the actor is wearing a long wig to clearly show that she is a girl (and the condition of it implies that she is a very feminine person). In addition, she is young enough to appear easily influenced by others, which is what we needed.

This will be the person playing Francis. Because we will not be filming any further than the lower half of his face, we did not feel that his age particularly mattered, despite Francis being much older than Rosalyn. In addition, his voice suits the character, as it is relatively deep.

This is the actor that will be playing Liam, the leader of the revolutionaries. Although in the picture he appears younger than Liam would be, he looks like an adult when sombre and fits the requirement for Liam. As well as this, he has a commanding voice that suits a leader.

-------

The remaining actors (shown below) will pose as supporting characters – either a passerby or one of the Ravens. We wanted to show this particular group of the Ravens as being young and easily influenced because it helps to form opinions of their group from the beginning of the film. In addition, young people are usually portrayed by the general media as being delinquents and vandals; we felt that by asking them to carry out a bombing, the audience will understand that many of the Ravens are young people that are more likely to rebel.

We feel that we have captured a wide variety of young people that could represent a revolution (or at least a small part of one) against a tyrannical and fascist regime, including both genders and different races to show that the Ravens treat everyone as equal.

Objects and props

We will require some props to make our film more realistic. These include simple things such as mise-en-scene and clothing, but also range to physical props such as phones.

The actors playing Rosalyn and Francis will be required to wear black suits and ties with a white shirt to show how superior they are to other characters. The suit is a symbol of intelligence and occasionally authority, so other characters will be more likely to feel intimidated by these characters if they are wearing a suit.

Rosalyn and Francis communicate with each other by mobile phone in the opening two minutes; therefore we will have to use a phone. We have acquired a mobile that does not work to use in our filming.

The leader of the revolutionaries will be required to have a fake gun to show their power over the others and also portray them as a dangerous person.

One of the revolutionaries will be required to have a fake bomb to further enforce the idea that they are dangerous; it also gives Rosalyn an incentive to stop them. We might be unable to create a real-looking bomb for a variety of reasons (i.e. personal/public safety; time constraints) so we may use a plain-looking cardboard box which the audience does not know the contents, giving it an air of suspicion.

The other revolutionaries may or may not hold short swords or knives to show that they are armed and dangerous.

Locations

We will require at least two different places to film in, both in and out –side; we have found places that will work due to their location and exclusiveness.

We can film the scenes that are outside (i.e. the scene with the revolutionaries and the opening where Rosalyn is talking on the phone) down or near this alley, which is by a church near to where all the actors live. The story is supposedly set in the late afternoon/evening in an alleyway, which is why this setting shown is suitable for us to use. The area seems quite desolate which is why it would be easier for us to film without interruptions from the public. In addition the location is narrow and has walls which will prove useful in the making of our film as we use those walls in a variety of shots concerning the main character.

----

For the scenes that are to be filmed inside an office, we have found a teacher’s office at school that will work as it has the right environment. There are many items in the room such as documents on the wall and computers that will make the audience think that it is the office of someone important, which is what we intend to show Francis as.

Film Storyboard

The following is the three pages of storyboard that we will be following to create our film, including instructions for speech/background music, camera techniques and actor movement.
Because Photobucket images were cut off, so we have had to link directly to the images. Please click on the individual pages, listed below, to be redirected to the relevant pages of the storyboard.

Script

The script that will be given to all our actors. It details what happens in the opening two minutes: there is probably more here than we will be able to fit into our film, however we have enough to make the audience understand the storyline.
